It reads and sounds to me that the way things are going, the USA and the rest of the world will force the break up of the land of Israel into 2 Countries. This can't be good for Israel or the rest of the world. It can't be good for Israel for reasons of security, safety, and economics, and terrorism. It can't be good for the rest of the world for the reason of the Messianic time. I believe that the only way left to save Israel as 1 Country is to create an advertising campaign in the USA. The advertising campaign would focus on the beliefs of the religious right in the USA and their worries that a Messianic age can't occur with Israel being split into 2 Countries. Please let me know your thoughts.

Jesus never claimed He is the Messiah. In fact he questioned the Jewish belief that an individual, the son of David, will come as the Messiah. He told the Jews do not believe anybody who will claim he is messiah. He told the Jews, what will come or who will come is the Kingdom of God. Jesus gave the title “ Son of Man” for the kingdom of God. By declaring “The son of Man will come in the clouds with glory” Jesus told the Jews he is speaking about the same Son of Man about whom Prophet Daniel prophesied in his book. Son of Man in the book of Daniel is not an individual, it represents “Israel” the kingdom of God. In the Book of Daniel, animals represent all other kingdoms and Son of Man represents the kingdom of Jews, the people of God.
When Jesus said “ Let these words sink down in your ears, Son of Man is going to be handed over into the hands of Gentiles and they will kill him and on the third day he will rise again”, Jesus meant that Judea/Israel the country of Jews is going to be destroyed and Jews are going to be scattered all over the world among the gentiles, and while they were among the gentiles all the curses proclaimed in the law of Moses will come upon them. NO messiah will come to save them but after fulfilling the curses upon them, the Jews will be brought back to Israel as prophesied by all other prophets in the Bible. Thus ISRAEL the kingdom of God will be resurrected on the land of old Canaan and the new Palastine.
Is it not what happened to Jews, their kingdom, their temple and to their people during the last 2000 years?

I might be persuaded to be involved in your work if not for the religious agenda you seem to be pushing. I think the issues of a Jewish homeland, its survival and prosperity, are a great source of pride to my family and me. Connecting Zionism to the Jewish religion, or any other form of hocus-pocus, distances me from any wish to be involved in your organization. Israel is Jewish in the same way and for the same reasons that Italy is Italian or China is Chinese. To suggest that Israel exists according to the will of some “G-d” who created the world, expresses a personality and tinkers in history is foolish to the extreme. Soon you will suggest that the earthquake in Pakistan was divine retribution and a slip in the Dow Jones could be a sign of “G-d’s” displeasure. I have read the purpose statement of UVWJ. While a Jew, born of a family of Holocaust survivers, and supporter of Israel since childhood -- I am now 76 years old -- I cannot accept (and therefore will not support) the one-sided justifications announced in this purpose statement.
In practical terms, this position has been a failed one. In realistic terms, it ignores legitimate claims of both Palestinians and of interests of world peace.
There should be a two-state (side-by-side in peace) outcome resolution, on this most of the world agrees. And, likewise, this will require not only a pacification on the Palestinian side but removal of provocations on the Israeli side: the settlements beyond the pre-'67 lines were established either as intentional provocation
or, if they are intended by Israel to remain, de facto provocation. All that violate that line need to be dismantled.
The claim for return MUST be dealt with in good faith. That requires, first of all, acknowledgment by Israel that some Palestinians were dislodged against their will.
I reject on both practical and principle grounds any resort to Biblical justification for land-lines.
The historical fact is that neither Palestinians nor Arabs were responsible for the Holocaust. So, those residing in those lands awarded Israel by either British design or U.N. mandate have rights that are not superceded by Biblically-based or moral arguments. Two peoples have historical claim to that land and a good-faith, practical, solution, not one dictated by doctrines of one or the other side must prevail.
Finally, I attribute much of the current anti-Israel (and also for many anti-Semitic) sentiment around the world to the very one-sided demands that your purpose statement articulates.
Much of that international opinion supported creation of the State of Israel, that this support is now eroding is due equally to Palestinian and Mid-Eastern resentment of that U.N. mandate and, as well, to the attitude announced in your 'purpose' statement.
As an American Jew -- to repeat, a long-time supporter of Israel -- I feel it is my obligation to state the truth as I see it.
Israel's militant policy and Biblically-based claims have resulted not in peaceful resolution but, instead, in a chronic destablizing of the region and the world. This judgment does NOT absolve Palestinians or Arabs from the extreme -- and equally violence-based -- positions that they have clung to.

Israel has killed over 600 children in the past four years or so, with not one Israeli soldier being prosecuted for use of excess force - not even in the recent case of a 9 year old girl, with at least four bullets in her.
Perhaps when the Powerful Voice of World Jewry learns the meaning of morality, and condemns murder of children and unarmed civilians as strongly regardless of race or religion, then the rising anti-jewish sentiment round the world will be stemmed, and you will again earn due respect for Israel's positive achievements."

Israel is half way through the process of 'giving back the land'. Whether we liked it or not/or whether it was a good idea or not is now not in the balance. We are a people of our word and we are sticking to our side of the bargain. We can at least build a fence and have some fortitude inside of our fence. No-one can deny Israel the need for this - so that can continue. It is not feasible to try and defend some of these places like unfortunately Amona - too many lives are getting lost.

Thank you for your message. Even though I am a 'secular' Jew, I fully support your words. I only lived in Israel for one year but feel, and will continue to feel as you do. People who are couragous enough to reclaim their ancestors' lands, against the entire world's criticism, are very special indeed. Israel, as a nation, has won the right several times over to these lands. Sadly, too many are blinded by false information and easily succomb to the views of the majority. But, as history has shown us, those in the majority are often proven wrong by the couragous minority.

I went to Gaza just before the expulsion. I spent 13 days in Neve Dekalim. I wanted to help then too, but ultimately it was an exercise in futility. I'll never forget the day soldiers broke through the gates. We struggled against eachother, Jews young and old , some from other countries against OUR soldiers and police! I asked myself - How can this be? Suddenly I had an epiphany and was looking down on this mass of struggling people from the sky. What must G-d be thinking? This isn't a pogrom in Russia or an expulsion by Nazis. These are Jews who've come to throw their brothers off their land! You might ask, is what's been happening comparable to a Russian pogrom or being thrown out of your home by Germans? Yes, yes it is! Because it is a crime committed against Jews by Jews and a reward for those responsible for the death of Jewish children. It's a crime perpetrated by the government to set Jew against Jew. The result and horror of it is visible, sketched in Jewish blood on the ground at Amona. It's a signal to the world watching from the sidelines, 'This is how you treat a religious Jew."

I just read the letter re:Amona, and I wanted to comment on it. I understand that your committee is concerned about what is going on in Israel, and that you do not agree with what the government does. Thankfully, you are able to rally against it, to try to change what you do not agree with. I think that the power of your comments was diminished by the rhetoric that you used (namely, comparing the violence that took place at Amona to German troops and Pogroms). Why did you phrase your words like this? This only serves to minimize the actions done to my family, and yours, by anti-semites in the past. The Israeli government is NOT anti-semitic, and it is irresponsible to make such accusations. Rhetoric does not further debates; it simply adds flames to them.
Your passion for your cause is admirable, and I support you 100%. Because Israel is a democracy, unlike the claims you make in your essay, you are able to change the course of action there.
